Jennifer Guy became a partner at Paterson, MacDougall in
April 2023. Prior to joining the firm, Jennifer was a partner
at a boutique insurance defence firm in Toronto.

Jennifer is a problem-solver who thrives on complexity.
Her practice encompasses both the provision of coverage advice and the defence of insured interests. She provides coverage opinions and advice to domestic and international insurers, relating to commercial general liability, errors and omissions, construction wrap-up, environmental impairment, directors and officers, property, and automobile policies, as well as excess and umbrella policies, specialty coverages including life insurance agents E&O, information technology E&O, multimedia liability and contractor’s protective liability. Jennifer is preferred counsel to LawPRO.

Jennifer also provides coverage counsel in major multi-jurisdictional coverage disputes including class actions, product recall, environmental disasters, mass torts, and multi-district litigation including provision of coverage advice relative to long tail liability, allocation between insurers and allocation between insurer and policyholder. She defends transportation service providers involved in motor vehicle collisions, product liability actions involving pharmaceutical and medical devices, failures of large industrial equipment, and consumer goods as well as municipalities, school boards, medical laboratories, property management companies and retailers.
