Kiri McDermott-Berryman became an associate at Paterson, MacDougall in April 2023. Prior to joining the firm, Kiri articled with the Ministry of the Attorney General before joining a boutique insurance defence firm in Toronto.

Kiri is a logical thinker who excels at bringing order to bizarre and unusual facts. She relies on her engineering background when defending clients in product liability claims ranging from household items to failures of large industrial machinery. When acting as defence counsel in civil litigation matters involving personal injury, Kiri strives to be the most reasonable lawyer in the courtroom. In the office, Kiri takes an analytical approach to providing coverage opinions involving professional liability, automotive, and large complex CGL polices.

Kiri represents clients in all phases of litigation and embraces creative solutions where appropriate. She has successfully appeared on behalf of clients before the Superior Court, Small Claims Court, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal, and various Human Rights Tribunals. Kiri is preferred counsel to LawPRO.
